Honda Unveils Striking Saloon Concept Pointing Towards 2026 Production EV

Honda has taken center stage at CES in Las Vegas, showcasing not one but two futuristic concept cars that seem plucked from the pages of a sci-fi script. Dubbed the Saloon and Space-Hub, these concepts provide a glimpse into Honda's upcoming 0 Series of electric cars.

The more visually arresting of the pair is unquestionably the Saloon, drawing inspiration from 1970s wedge-shaped concepts, reminiscent of iconic models like the Aston Martin Bulldog. What's particularly intriguing is Honda's confirmation that the Saloon will serve as the muse for the inaugural production model of the 0 Series, expected to hit the market in 2026. Initial launches are slated for North America, followed by Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Beyond its attention-grabbing design and the anticipated exclusion of gull-wing doors in the final product, the Saloon sits atop a dedicated new EV platform. Its low and wide exterior conceals a spacious interior, featuring a human-machine interface (HMI) instrument panel with sustainable materials. The Saloon introduces advancements in steer-by-wire and motion control management systems, likely to be retained in the production version.

Shifting focus to the Space-Hub concept, while no production plans have been confirmed, this minivan-like study provides insight into what Honda's 0 Series might offer consumers. This futuristic electric model boasts a vast glass roof providing panoramic views for passengers. Behind the driver, a secluded passenger compartment with opposing seat benches allows for flexible seating arrangements, fostering a "hub" connecting people to each other and the outside world.

The Space-Hub's unconventional rear-end design, marked by a rectangular lighting strip and the absence of a windshield, remains mysterious, as Honda has not disclosed further details about the study.

In addition to these concepts, Honda introduces a new "H mark" logo for its upcoming EV models, including the 0 Series. Described by the company as symbolizing "two outstretched hands," the logo reflects Honda's commitment to "expand the possibilities of mobility and continue to meet the needs of its customers."
